Palm Coast proudly hosted the inaugural Great Pumpkin Compost Event on Nov. 1, resulting in the collection of 52 pumpkins, diverting 392 pounds of waste from landfills.
Partnering with Barton Beef Cattle Ranch, the collected pumpkins will feed livestock and create compost, contributing to local agricultural sustainability efforts. The collaboration aims to harness the pumpkins' natural nutrients — such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium — to benefit the soil and promote new plant growth.
Acknowledging the community's eco-conscious efforts, Chick-fil-A generously awarded the first 50 residents who dropped off their pumpkins with vouchers for Chick-fil-A sandwiches, adding a delectable reward to the initiative.
