Organizations in Volusia County to open their doors Tuesday evening as cold weather approaches

Residents on the county's east side can access shelter services coordinated by Halifax Urban Ministries in partnership with local churches.

As temperatures are forecasted to decrease, emergency cold weather shelters will become operational on the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 16. Those without an adequate heating source at their residence or who are without housing are encouraged to seek shelter through one of the below community organizations.

On the county's west side, The Neighborhood Center's The Bridge, located at 421 S. Palmetto Ave., DeLand, will offer a warm place to spend the evening. Guests should arrive between the hours of 6-8 p.m. For additional details or support, individuals can call 386-734-8120 ext. 601. 

Residents on the county's east side can access shelter services coordinated by Halifax Urban Ministries (HUM) in partnership with local churches. To arrange for sheltering, contact HUM at 386-317-5886.
