After 40 years of service with the Council on Aging of Volusia County, Lisa Lewis was recognized with ElderSource's 2023 Delores Barr Weaver Elder Advocate Award during the agency's annual "A Night with the Stars" fundraiser in Jacksonville on Nov. 15.

Lewis, a former vice president of case managed services with the council, retired this year, according to a press release. The Delores Barr Weaver Elder Advocate Award is presented to individuals who, like the award’s namesake, have shown a similar passion of giving and being devoted advocates for seniors.

The fundraiser, presented by Florida Community Care, celebrates individuals working in the aging industry who have excelled in their jobs and demonstrated compassion for the seniors they serve.
