Volusia County to give free trees to residents in celebration of Florida Arbor Day

Among the trees available will be big red mayhaw, chinquapin, live oak, red mulberry, chickasaw plum, American persimmon, southern crabapple, pawpaw, and pecan.

To celebrate Florida Arbor Day, Volusia County will host a tree giveaway, offering households the opportunity to receive two complimentary native Florida food trees. 

The trees will be available from 8 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, at the UF/IFAS Extension Volusia County, 3100 E. New York Ave., DeLand. 

Among the trees available will be big red mayhaw, chinquapin, live oak, red mulberry, chickasaw plum, American persimmon, southern crabapple, pawpaw, and pecan. The trees, with a bare root, will range from 1 to 2 feet tall.
