Matanzas and Flagler Palm Coast girls wrestlers won seven of eight weight classes contested at the Pat White Memorial Lady Pirate Classic on Jan. 18 at the Pirates’ gym.
Six Matanzas wrestlers won championships in their weight classes, including the Pirates’ heavyweight, Ani Brown, who won a combined class of 170, 190 and 235 pounds. Matanzas’ Jazlyn Golder (105), Mariah Mills (115), Autumn Jarvis (120), Tiana Fries (140) and Kendall Bibla (155) also won titles. FPC’s Ana Vilar won the 135-pound title. Her sister, Alisha Vilar, finished second to Fries at 140. FPC’s Gabby Jones placed second to Bibla at 155. Matanzas’ R’Carden Michel placed second to Mills at 115.
Bartram Trail’s Katherine Stewart won the 145-pound title. Bibla defeated Stewart in the 145-pound state championship match last season.
